Beautiful hair is far less about expensive miracle products and far more about consistent, gentle daily care. As stylists, we can create a stunning look in the chair — but what you do at home over the following weeks is what keeps it healthy and radiant. Here are the ten habits we recommend to every client.
1. Wash less, but wash well
Over-washing strips the natural oils that keep hair supple and shiny. Most people thrive washing two to three times a week. When you do wash, use lukewarm — never hot — water, and focus shampoo on the scalp rather than the lengths.
2. Always condition mid-lengths to ends
Your ends are the oldest, most fragile part of your hair. Concentrate conditioner there, leave it for a minute or two, and rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle for extra shine.
3. Never brush soaking-wet hair aggressively
Wet hair is at its most vulnerable. Use a wide-tooth comb or a wet brush and work gently from the ends upward to avoid unnecessary breakage.
4. Protect against heat — every time
If you use a blow-dryer, curling iron or straightener, a heat protectant is non-negotiable. It forms a barrier that dramatically reduces damage and preserves colour.
5. Sleep on silk
A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction, frizz and breakage while you sleep, and helps your blow-dry or style last an extra day or two.
6. Trim regularly
A trim every 8–12 weeks keeps split ends from travelling up the hair shaft. Counter-intuitively, regular trims help your hair grow longer and look thicker.
7. Feed your hair from the inside
Hair is built from protein and thrives on a balanced diet rich in protein, healthy fats, iron and vitamins. Staying hydrated matters just as much as any serum.
8. Use a weekly mask
A weekly deep-conditioning or bond-building mask replenishes moisture and strength, especially for colour-treated or heat-styled hair.
9. Shield from the sun
UV rays fade colour and dry out hair. A hat or a UV-protective spray keeps your colour vibrant and your strands hydrated all summer.
10. Book professional care
Regular treatments — a scalp therapy, gloss or bond repair — keep your hair in peak condition. Think of them as maintenance, not luxury. Your future hair will thank you.
Adopt even half of these habits and you will see a genuine difference within a few weeks. And when you are ready for a professional boost, our team is here to help.
